Dark side of the Ocean

Tonight, the storm that is battering the Basque coast is making the ocean indomitable. The waves are swelling in chaotic disorder and crashing in noisy anarchy against the rocks that act as barricades. It's as if the ocean has decided to invade. Inland, the waters have flooded the towns and villages, finding nowhere to drain; the human army has retreated. The roads are blocked and there's a great deal of fear.
I watch this extraordinary spectacle with fear but also with wonder. Tonight, the ocean makes me remember or dream. The pristine white foam is my only landmark. The black fills what is left, which is infinity.
The images do not capture the decisive moment so dear to Cartier-Bresson, but a long time that drags on in this dark night.
